Signe became the wife of Mike Havel, the first Lord Bear of the Bearkillers. Her family became part of the nucleus of people that formed the Bearkillers in the year immediately after the Change. She became an active member of the Bearkiller military force, which would later be known as the A-List.

Signe fought in the Battle of West Salem. She chided Mike Havel for accepting the challenge of a young Protectorate knight, pointing out that Alexi Stavarov could have put his best knight in front of his formation to sandbag Mike.

At the nemed, Signe has a vision of Sethaz proclaiming himself to be "The Scourge of God." She joins the other heads of state as the Allies military force is being formed for the action near Pendleton.
